World-leading variety store add MishiPay Self-Checkout Kiosk to their customer checkout options
Leading variety store chain Flying Tiger Copenhagen today announced the deployment of MishiPay’s Self-Checkout Kiosk in its London Tottenham Court Road store. The self-service kiosks work alongside MishiPay’s Mobile Self-Checkout technology that the brand is rolling out across its UK stores, providing a complete store automation solution and enabling autonomous checkout for all shoppers.
MishiPay’s Self-Checkout Kiosk is a small-footprint, low-cost solution that enables stores of all sizes to benefit from the efficiency of autonomous checkout. The technology is 75% smaller than a conventional self-checkout kiosk and brings MishiPay’s cutting-edge user experience to shoppers without any new integrations or infrastructure changes on the retailer’s side. Instead, MishiPay builds their solution on top of the retailer’s pre-existing legacy systems, enabling Flying Tiger Copenhagen to continue to utilise its tried and tested back-office systems whilst shoppers benefit from a frictionless, enriched checkout journey at the front end.
“As the volume of shoppers returning to brick and mortar increases following the pandemic, our customers have been asking us for solutions that can in time capture 100% of their store transactions,” said Theo Sotiriou, Chief Product Officer at MishiPay. “Adoption of our mobile self-checkout technology is growing week-on-week, but we see that there is lower adoption from certain shopper demographics. This, alongside the shoppers that still wish to use cash, led us to developing our Self-Checkout Kiosk. During the first phase of the launch, we have seen 87% of all Flying Tiger Copenhagen store shoppers checking out with MishiPay. We see the Kiosk as a great way to further stimulate adoption of our mobile journey in the longer term and are excited to roll it out with Flying Tiger Copenhagen.”
In order to maximise the flexibility of the solution, MishiPay have built their Kiosk to be highly customisable and modular: retailers are able to choose to retain their current store payment terminals and receipt printers if required, in order to further reduce deployment cost. What’s more, the technology can be configured to enable shoppers to receive receipts for their transactions via email instead of printed paper versions, or even to complete payment using their phones instead of via a conventional payment terminal. This in turn opens up additional payment options for users when compared to those available at the conventional register.
Doug Gardner, Flying Tiger Copenhagen CIO, said: “Having seen the benefits that MishiPay’s mobile self-checkout technology has delivered across our stores in the UK and Nordics, we are excited to take the next step in our partnership and deploy their Kiosk in order to capture 100% of our brick and mortar transactions using their systems. Continuing to improve our store experience for shoppers is key as we build upon the strong results we have delivered in the last 18 months, and we see checkout options as a pivotal moment in each shopper’s journey.”
