MUJI the Japanese retailer has expanded the Self-Checkout kiosks in a 2nd store in London, UK.

 

Leading retailer MUJI today announced the deployment of MishiPay’s Self-Checkout Kiosk in their London stores. The self-service kiosks work alongside MishiPay’s Mobile Self-Checkout technology that the brand has already deployed across their European stores, providing a complete self-checkout solution and enabling autonomous checkout for all shoppers.

MishiPay’s Self-Checkout Kiosk is a perfect fit for MUJI. Small-footprint, low-cost solution that enables stores to benefit from the efficiency of autonomous checkout. The technology is 75% smaller than a conventional self-checkout kiosk and brings MishiPay’s cutting-edge user experience to shoppers without any new integrations or infrastructure changes on the retailer’s side.

MishiPay developed the solution on top of the retailer’s pre-existing ERP/POS infrastructure, enabling MUJI to continue using its tried-and-tested back-office systems while customers benefit from a frictionless, enhanced checkout journey at the front-end.

The first MishiPay Self-Checkout kiosk was deployed in the MUJI Carnaby store, at the end of July. Since then, the majority of the store transactions now take place on the MishiPay platform (Scan & Go + Kiosk). Following the positive results, MUJI expanded with 2 more units in the newly renovated MUJI Islington store in London. Whereas, previously MUJI required 2 manned tills on each floor, today one floor is entirely managed by MishiPay (Scan & Go + Kiosk). The ground floor has the second self-checkout unit and manned tills, which also facilitate returns/exchanges and answer customer’s questions. Similarly to Carnaby, the vast majority of the store transactions are now taking place across the MishiPay platforms.
