Introducing the RFID Self Checkout Kiosk in NRF 2023
January 25, 2023
At the 2023 National Retail Federation (NRF) conference, MishiPay announced the launch of its new RFID self-checkout kiosk. The kiosk, designed to revolutionize the retail experience, uses RFID sensors and allows customers to scan and pay for items without needing to scan the barcodes of every item.

The MishiPay RFID kiosk complements the already launched Scan & Go journey. Customers can use their phones to scan the RFID tags of the products they wish to purchase. After completing the purchase, the RFID security tags are automatically deactivated allowing the customers to exit the store. This makes the checkout process much faster and more efficient, allowing customers to exit without having to remove any hard tags/pins from the items.
Theft is a major problem in retail stores, resulting in significant losses for retailers every year. Traditional methods of preventing theft, such as security guards and CCTV cameras, can be very expensive and unreliable. MishiPay’s RFID self-checkout kiosk offers a much more efficient and cost-effective solution that could potentially reduce theft in retail stores.
The RFID self-checkout kiosk works by using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags embedded in the items or on the tags to track them from the moment they are taken from the shelves. The kiosk is equipped with sensors that can detect these tags and the customer is then required to confirm the items and check out.
MishiPay integrates its kiosk into existing point of sale (POS) systems and payment provider. This will allow retailers to streamline their checkout process and provide customers with an even more efficient shopping experience, without having to change any of their core infrastructure.
In addition to introducing their new kiosk at NRF 203, MishiPay is also working with a number of retailers to introduce their technology into various stores. This will allow customers to experience the convenience of MishiPay’s RFID technology wherever they shop.
